Can I ask a question regarding someone else through my own Maisa account?
No, you can’t. Your Maisa account is linked to your own personal social and health care records. When you ask a question in Maisa, the information will be filed in your record.
If you have proxy access to someone else’s account, please make sure to select the correct account in accordance with whose affairs you are managing.

Why can’t I act on behalf of my child when we have a joint custody agreement?
Acting on behalf of a child is also possible when the guardians have a joint custody agreement for the child. The extent to which the guardian can see information in Maisa and act on the child’s behalf is determined by the agreement.
If the guardian has the right to handle social and healthcare matters, they can, for example, book appointments for the child and send messages to the treatment team via Maisa.
If the joint custody agreement restricts handling of social or healthcare matters, the guardian can only access the information that can be shown based on the child’s decision-making capability and the consent given. In this case, actions such as booking appointments are not possible. However, the guardian usually has the right to view the information.
Acting on behalf of a minor is not possible if the joint custody agreement has not been entered into the Population Information System in an encoded format or if custody responsibilities have been divided in a way that cannot be entered in the system. Proxy access is also denied if the guardian or the child has a non-disclosure for personal safety reasons.

How do non-disclosures of information affect guardians’ proxy authorisations in Maisa?
If one of the guardians has a non-disclosure, the guardian for whom the non-disclosure is issued can act on behalf of the child normally. But in these circumstances the non-disclosure prevents proxy access by the guardian that does not have a non-disclosure. The underlying reason is an obligation to protect the person with the non-disclosure and make sure that their information (e.g. address) is not visible to anyone else through the underage person’s Maisa account.
Neither guardian can act on behalf of the dependant if both guardians have a non-disclosure or if a non-disclosure is issued for the child in question.
Can my spouse and I share a Maisa account?
No, you can’t. Because of the sensitive nature of social and health care information everyone must have their own Maisa account. If you wish, you and your spouse can grant each other proxy access to your Maisa accounts in which case you will be able to access each other’s information.

I am acting as a legal guardian of someone. How do I obtain the necessary authorisation to act on their behalf in Maisa?
If you are acting as a legal guardian of someone and want to manage their affairs also in the Maisa portal, please contact the service provider responsible for organising their social and health care services.
Activating proxy access requires measures from a social or health care provider if the person in question is unable to grant the proxy authorisation in Maisa.
I have authorised someone to act on my behalf in the suomi.fi e-Authorizations service. Is this mandate valid also in Maisa?
Unfortunately, the suomi.fi e-Authorization mandate does not extend to Maisa. You need to grant a separate proxy authorisation for Maisa services. You can grant the authorisation directly via Maisa or by delivering an authorisation mandate to your social or health care provider, for instance, to your health centre.
